Worst virus ever 10-2009

All the free virus fix software below has proven to be useful in infection removal, unfortunately, viruses are ever changing and written with increasing variations. So the removal is always evolving and often you will find multi-viruses infecting systems. My best advice is to be careful and just try to remove everything you can not identify. BE VERY CAREFUL, OR YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR DATA!

Tip; Be sure to make good notes of any found viruses and files that were deleted. You can not expect to complete a repair unless you have know  what virus you have on your system. Watch reboots for DOS box scripts and automatic programs to start with a reboot.

Tip2; Sometimes it is not possible to clear a virus from an infected operating system. Solution, install the infected drive in a clean system (With good anti-virus) via a USB connection (after boot only). To avoid infecting the clean system use a USB adaptor to introduce the infected drive to the clean system only after it boot with quality and updated anti-virus software in place. Often, the clean system will not mount the infected drive letter, or if it does not recognize drive correctly. If you are brave and have an expendable system you can try a boot with the infected drive connected to the system board. (Use scandisk /f switch).- More chkdsk help.

  1. Note: This is the legitimate SmiFraudFix Removal Created by SiRi. The rogue program was called SmitFraud Fix Tool is created to confuse computer users into installing a virus.   2. Malwarebytes at www.malwarebytes.org works usually the first time AND fixes bogus registry entries use it #2

  3. Avast Anti-virus www.avast.com be sure to do the "boot time scan". This free program will rid a system of most viruses. (Start here) Avast's "Boot time scan" will run even with other antivirus packages in place and it works great.

  4. AutoRuns shows you what programs are configured to run during system boot-up or login. This is the most complete startup package software I have seen to date. DM

  5. WinAudit  Know everything about your system and software with this package.

  6. CurrPorts  Allows you to view a list of ports that are currently in use, and the application that is using it. You can close a selected connection and also terminate the process using it, and export all or selected items to a HTML or text report. Additional information includes the local port name, local/remote IP address, highlighted status changes and more.

  7. Won't connect? use this package Software/registery-fixes/WinsockxpFix.exe

  8. Use "Hijack this" To rid yourself of unwanted startup programs. (See also "Autoruns" below) HijackThis.exe  (See also spybot in "advance mode").

  9. Freeware version of  "Checkit" hardware checker. CHECKIT. To make sure your problem is not hardware.

  10. Last resort - When you want it "all gone" forever, low level format a harddrive it with these tools  (Be careful everything is gone for good!) Software/Hard-drive/Win-LLF.exe (Windows based SATA  or IDE) or Software/Hard-drive/Maxllf.exe (IDE only from dos).

From a DOS box Prompt;

  • Scanreg/ffix To repair a registry problem, (Old) N/A on all systems.
  • fdisk /mbr To repair a damaged boot sector.
